Top Hat

The other day after class I decided to meet some friends in the Lower East Side. While I was waiting for them to come down from their apartment I noticed a small shop where people seemed to be gathering and receiving free drinks. The sign on the door read "TOP HAP -  NOW OPEN." Being intrigued by the amount of people inside seemingly having a great time, I figured what the heck, why not join in on the party. To my surprise Top Hat was filled with amazing items. From old fashioned journals, "snowballs," rugs, furniture, and other knick knacks this place seemed to have it all. Once my friends arrived they too were astounded by how unique and interesting everything seemed to be in this store. We ended up spending quite some time there finding ourselves truly fascinated by everything we came upon.

Top Hat, created by Nina Allen and awarded the best Indie Showroom, opened last year on Ludlow and Broome. The purpose was to put Sweet Bella's products, a wholesale company created by Nina Allen, on display in a storefront setting; it also often displays collections from collaborating artists. The Malt Collection by Aodh, a collection of furniture, is currently on showcase.
With beautifully displayed merchandise, a mix of exposed bring and white walls, and an eclectic assortment of merchandise this storefront/showroom has everything it needs to thrive.
The setting, the crowd, and the merchandise, made for an enlightening experience where I found myself in awe. I truly loved every piece that they had and loved everything about their visual merchandise.

One of my favorite items. The snowball made with rubber and seeds these balls take you right back to your childhood winter wonderland. Squeeze them to get the identical crunch of a real snowball. Use them to relieve stress, send them as a fun gift, and simply use them as a conversation starter. Simple yet fun.
